Please join me in a peaceful protest urging Whole Foods to cease selling rabbit meat. On August 17th protests will occur at Whole Foods stores throughout the U.S. I will be at the Glastonbury, CT store from 11-2 that day and would love to be among others who share these concerns: Whole Foods is creating a demand for rabbit flesh by expanding availability to the mainstream population. (Think sales, coupons, recipes, product demos, etc.) Whole Foods is selling the flesh of the third most popular companion animal in the U.S. Whole Foods has contracted specific farms to produce and slaughter white New Zealand rabbits at various ages so people can purchase both fryers and stewers. Whole Foods does not appear to see the hypocrisy that exists by refusing to carry products tested on animals (typically rabbits) yet promotes the sale of factory-farmed rabbit flesh. As a corporation seen as an industry leader, Whole Foods must be held accountable by those concerned about companion animals on the dinner plate and about hypocritical business practices.
