★Please join this event. Help them save the Great Barrier Reef★ THE STORY Unless we take action, the Great Barrier Reef will be used as a dump. There are plans on the table for 100 million tonnes of dredge spoil to be dumped in Reef World Heritage waters, to make way for 4 new mega ports – including one of the largest coal ports in the world – and 7,000 industrial ships crossing the Reef. When the World Heritage Committee meets on 16 June, it has a critical role to play in the Reefs future. It must hold the Australian Government accountable for protecting the Reef, and help secure a ban on dumping in World Heritage waters. On 16 June, Tweet, Facebook and Instagram with millions around the world using #FightfortheReef, creating a global Social Media Storm that the World Heritage Committee and Australian Government can’t ignore. I suggest taking pictures with your messages to the World Heritage Committee or just simply posting a message on any social media outlet using the hashtag.
