Please note the last little bit where they vaguely allude to the TWO WEEK LACK OF [expletive] COVERAGE ABOUT WHICH YOU WERE NOT INFORMED (unless, of course, you were trying to get something pre-approved, or fill a prescription, or HAD TO GO TO THE [expletive] EMERGENCY ROOM, and were told you had no insurance.) But its okay. Itll be retroactive. Students are widely acknowledged to be among the most wealthy people in America, right? And can pay now & not worry about getting reimbursed until a) all the OSU paperwork is filled out, entered, approved, and cleared, b) your new insurance kicks in, and c) all the United Healthcare paperwork is filled out, entered, approved, and cleared? I apologize for my lack of filter. Orientation Week has stripped it away, and I must sleep before it will re-grow. Somehow the idea that the retroactive coverage makes it okay keeps kicking loose this echo of a person saying something about how everyone has access to healthcare, because Emergency Rooms. And then my filter disappears even more. ---------- To those in the OSU Student Health Insurance Plan: Welcome to the 2014-15 Student Health Insurance Plan. Due to our efforts to offer the best and most affordable benefits possible, we experienced delays in providing details of this year’s plan. We apologize for that delay and any inconvenience. We wanted to provide you details about the plan and are ready to assist with any questions. For the new plan year, there are some changes we would like to share with you. We are happy to announce United Healthcare as the new provider. Our new plan includes the United Healthcare Choice Plus PPO Network and provides enhanced benefits at the same rates as in the previous year. The plan is being managed through the Human Resources Office. Some of the benefits include: • Gold Level Affordable Care Act Compliant Coverage • Covered services at the Student Health Center paid at 100% • No annual or lifetime plan maximum on essential benefits • Pre-existing conditions waived • 24-hour Nurseline and Student Assistance Program • Preventative Healthcare paid at 100% in network • New copayments for doctor visits (deductible waived and paid at 100% after copayment) o $30 for primary care o $50 for specialists Oklahoma State University is pleased to offer a Student Health Insurance Plan to three groups: 1) domestic undergraduate or graduate students who voluntarily choose to enroll directly with the vendor; 2) eligible graduate teaching or research assistants (GTAs and GRAs) are provided OSU-paid insurance and are default enrolled in the plan; and 3) international students mandated into the plan as per their visa requirements. For benefits-eligible Graduate Teaching and Research Assistants/Associates automatically enrolled, coverage will begin retroactively on the first of the month upon confirmation of employment and benefits eligibility with no gaps in coverage. For example, students successfully enrolled in fall courses and with confirmed employment on August 14, 2014 will be enrolled in healthcare coverage effective August 1, 2014. Individuals who have voluntarily enrolled or those who have been default enrolled will receive an electronic ID card. Please watch for a welcome email from United Healthcare with instructions on how to set up your account. You can also request a card to be sent to your mailing address through the UHC website (https://okstate.myahpcare/). Students can view full benefits and locate providers at okstate.myahpcare. If you have questions regarding your healthcare coverage, please contact OSU Human Resources at 405-744-5449. We wish you a happy and healthy year!
