Please note the message below from The Rev. Mary Beth Rivetti regarding last evenings shootings in Moscow. In the face of violence, death, and great loss to families, our prayers are surely called for. I ask you to join me in offering prayers in our respective communities. May Gods holy presence and promise bring comfort and hope in the midst of death and destruction. +Jim From Mary Beth Rivetti: Beloved friends Just before we gathered for our Twelfth Night Celebration, I had word from the Rev. Susan Cleveley that there had been a shooting in Moscow this afternoon. The suspect was in custody, and at least one person had died. By the end of the evening, there were three dead, one in critical condition, and the suspect injured slightly after rolling his vehicle in a 100 mph chase from Moscow to Pullman, through Colfax and nearly to Steptoe. We offer our prayers for those who have died: David Trail Belinda Niebuhr Terri Grzebielski (adoptive mother of the shooter) for those who are wounded Michael Chin for the shooter John Lee and for all those whose lives are touched by these people, and who are in shock and grief at this time. The Interfaith Alliance of Moscow will be holding a vigil at First United Methodist Church in Moscow at 7pm Sunday, January 11, in response to these shootings. Merciful God, whose Son Jesus wept at the death of Lazarus: look with compassion on all who are bound by sorrow and pain through the death of David, Belinda, and Terri. Comfort them, grant them the conviction that all things work together for good to those who love you, and help them to find sure trust and confidence in your resurrection power; through Jesus Christ our deliverer. Amen.
