Please pass the word! PortSide NewYork’s Sandy-damaged dock available for $1 and a signed contract. Dock is 9’ x 72’ and is in Red Hook. The nature of the damage to the dock (cracked whales, wear on holes penetrated by through-bolt hardware) means that dock is only usable in still waters (Gowanus Canal, Newtown Creek kind of places). There is also one hole/perforation in the deck (underneath the blue plywood). The photo of the damaged wood whale shows the construction method (cement float, wood whales). Originally, it was a very high-end marina dock. The replacement cost of a similar dock would be between $250 and $300 per linear foot.
