Please, please dont let it be that this handsome dog being pulled - TopicsExpress

Please, please dont let it be that this handsome dog being pulled through the shelter doors was about to be dumped, I said to myself yesterday. But it was to be, and Winnie knew it. He went flat to the ground as his human attempted to bring him to the intake desk. Attempting a one-woman semi-intervention, I approached the man and asked why he was bringing his dog to the shelter. I just dont want him anymore, and then, Im moving. Maybe there was a bit of a language barrier, but what it came down to was his dog of six years was scared sh--less and the man was showing no remorse. While the paperwork was being completed, the man looked over and maybe he saw my sorrow and Winnies fear, so he came over to pet Winnie on the head and Winnie lifted his front leg as if to say, please dont do this. I politely (yes, I kept my cool) asked the man for some info about Winnie [so the rescue warriors could set about and try to find him a better home]. I was told that he is good with other dogs and children, but that he lived his life outdoors, so probably he would need to be housebroken (provided he will get indoor privileges in his next home). You can see in the photos that it took two handlers to lift Winnie to get him to the back area to be processed. Please share so that Winnie gets noticed by someone looking for a handsome Golden Retriever who will happily walk out of the shelter and into a loving home, forever more. ID # A1450823.
