Please read all the other comments at the bottom of the article. They are all real life stories by the commentators. BK: January 25, 2015 at 10:47 am (Quote) This is the problem with Crony Capitalism. In crony capitalism, many SMEs know that for them to get the prune jobs they must play ball with GLCs. But the top people in GLCs have to wayang, they have to show why they deserve the high pay. Most of these guys were never in the private sector but came from the army or State institutions. They came from a culture that protects hierarchy and work things out through monopolistic behavior. And SMEs, the real risk takers, we will harness resources and try to extend the goodwill as much as possible to get the prune jobs. But what many top ppl in GLCs will do is try to get credit for themselves. They will find any legal loophole to justify infringement of patents, work processes and even ideas. This will then showcase why they deserve their pay and suckup to the top. Given their capital, their connections and that they are government, you can see why SMEs end up with the short end of the stick. Even frds in GLCs will warn you about these minefields. This is the culture of crony capitalism. There are PAP supporters who actually buy into PAP’s BS that we are a market economy, free competition etc, but the reality is exactly as the writer so passionately puts it as above. Some morons think that we are anti PAP for fun or as a trend. I prefer to call this pro Singapore; it is about removing crony capitalism that undermines entrepreneurship, it is indeed about ‘growing our own timer’, it is about separating the stupid BS tripartite that had depressed wages, it is about getting government to be impartial regulators, and to get an institution like the Ombudsman that Tommy Koh had suggested to independently investigate abuses by government or any of its subsidiaries. Totally appreciate what the writer is conveying. And for me PAP is no longer intellectually and emotionally able to govern Singapore and for Singaporeans.
