Please read and share. Ive just had to put my little baby boy Dexter The Pug down. He was 14 months old and fit and healthy. He started to go unwell, well not himself, quite, lazy, not eating about a week ago, so I took him to our vets at the time which we trusted, which were Forest Vets, Port Talbot. (Next to St. Theodores Church) They didnt know what was wrong with him and just give him some Antibiotics and Anti Inflammatories. They also said he would have to have an operation to make his nostrils wider, even though he had no breathing problems. This was on last Thursday and said he should be fine with these, but if there is no improvement to bring him back. Friday, there was nothing new, still the same. Saturday, my mother took him back to the vets, this time to their main vets in Skewen, they did a blood test and give him more injections of Antibiotics and Anti Inflammatories. They also give him some Medicam. Which we found out later, actually made him worse. The blood tests came back fine. So we were told to just see how he was after them. I was worried sick at this point and they said it was absolutely fine. Sunday, Dexter got much worse and started shaking really bad, so I rushed him over the PSDA out of hour vets in Viking Way, Swansea. The vet there just said he had a stomach bug and gave him paste to settle his stomach and a peppermint liquid to settle his stomach. Monday, the situation didnt change, he was still not moving, had no energy so I kept monitoring him and giving him his medicine. Tuesday, things went completely down hill and he had his first fit, which was horrific to see my baby like this. We took him over to our original vets Afon Vets, Neath. Their out of hours service was fantastic, the vet Jonathan there made a huge fuss over little Dext, and found out the problem straight away, the poor boy had Meningitis running through him. He even got Bristol University on the phone to seek urgent higher advice on how to treat him. He did everything he could for Dexter. He even stayed there through the night with him to motor and make sure he was comfortable. Wednesday, I had the call I knew was coming. the treatment had failed because the Meningitis had gone too far. So I went over and put my little angel to sleep. This was the hardest and most heartbreaking thing Ive ever had to go through. This could of been all avoided if Forest Vets & The PSDA had done their jobs properly. 3 fully trained and well respected vets failed in their roles which we paid them an awful lot of money to do. Save and make my baby boy well and fit again. This isnt the first case ive heard about Forest Vets, Port Talbot where they have failed in their roles to save an animal. Do not go there. Do not take your animals there. Do not allow your family and friends to take their animals there. Do not give them your money. Do not leave them give you the most heartbreaking pain possible. Ive lost someone so close to myself today, the pain is horrific. I hope you guys out there will never feel this pain and your animals live an amazingly full, fun and healthy lives. The vets let us down. Dont let them let you down.
