Please read the Press Information Bureau of Government of India, Ministry of Defense Press Release on OROP below. Shockingly vague and ignorant. Ducking the issue really. How many more decades would the Veterans again have to wait for the OROP, AFTER every Government- UPA and NDA agreeing to its implementation, so close to touch down????? Does it not reflect the failure of the Legislative to assert its superiority to set laws and enforce them? How many Veterans are comforted with this? If MoS (Defence) Rao Inderjit Singh has a Survey conducted on this khanapuri style bureaucratic reply, the Government would realize (as if it does not know), that far from being helpful, the DESW and the CGDA mentioned by the minister, are the PROBLEM themselves. Staffed by an indifferent and ill informed bureaucracy, the DESW carries a sad record of hostility towards the very people whose interest it is meant to guard. In any other field such disloyalty would be termed treachery. A similarly apathetic Customer Care department in any commercial organization would definitely cause the concerned organization to be commercially wound up. While Mr Rao Inderjit Singh would obviously have ticked off this item on his To Do list, equally obviously he has neither exercised his mind, nor asserted his partys mandate. Part of continuity? Press Information Bureau Government of India Ministry of Defence 01-August-2014 16:14 IST One Rank One Pension The principle of One Rank One Pension for the Armed Forces has been accepted by the Government. The modalities for implementation were discussed with various stakeholders and are presently under consideration of the Government. It will be implemented once the modalities are approved by the Government. There is a Pension Grievances Cell in the Department of Ex-servicemen Welfare to attend to grievances of the Ex-servicemen (ESM). Pension grievances received manually are being processed with the concerned offices. In addition, an online grievance redressal mechanism under the Centralised Public Grievances Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), developed by Department of Administrative Reforms, is also in operation through which the grievances received from ESM are being processed and replied electronically. Further, there are Veteran Cells / Grievance Cells in Service Hqrs, Office of Controller General of Defence Accounts and Office of Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Pension), Allahabad respectively. Defence Pension Adalats are also being organised at six locations every year to settle the grievances of ESM pensioners on the spot. This information was given by Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh in a written reply to Maj. General (Retd.) BC Khanduri in Lok Sabha today.
