Please read the testimony of former British PM Lord Clement Atlee. He was the PM who signed independence of India Act and as such was the key decision maker. He told Mr Chakraborty, then acting Governor of West Bengal in 1956 that the primary reasons for grant of early freedom to India was The INA of Subhash Bose and the Mutiny it had inspired in the Royal Indian Navy. I hope we know that some 78 ships , 20 shore Establishments and over 20,000 sailors of the Royal Indian Navy were involved. It had shaken the empire as it were. Justice Chkraborty specically asked Atlee- what then was the role of Mahatma Gandhis Quit India movement in the Grant of Independence to India?. He says and I quote- Atlees face twisted into a sarcastic smile as he spelt out the word - MINIMAL!. That is the problem in our country- A coterie of Family Historians has tried to twist historical facts to blot out the memory of Bose and the INA and glorify the absolute connivance of the Ahimsa clique. History needs to be rescued from these court jesters and family loyalists who put Family and self - interest above country. So JD SIngh please spare us the testimony of British Lt Cols. Im quoting the British Prime Minister of that era. The casualty figures are from the OFFICIAL history of the INA as also of the British Indian Army. But Im glad you have at least joined the debate. The country has a RIGHT to know the Truth.
