Please review the details below and make every effort to attend this meeting! Cape Lookout is about to be crippled with the same/similar rules as imposed on Cape Hatteras National Seashore Recreational Area. They (the users of Cape Lookout National Seashore)have asked that we (Dare County residents and visitors) share our experiences since the enactment of the ORV Rule @ CHNSRA. They face the same type of closures (night driving, pre-nesting, turtle, NC Species of Concern, VFA’s, ORV fees, etc.). Their rule will be even more crippling for the local economy since they also propose total closure during the winter months which may end ferry services (the only way to access this island seashore). Please come out and make a statement expressing how the final rule has affected you businesses and lifestyle. Economics are of prime concern but personal reflections will also have an influence on how much involvement can be forthcoming from the state. Not your fight – wrong - what does or does not happen @ Cape Lookout will have an influence on our own 5 year ORV Plan review. Please get the word out thru your organizations, they need an overwhelming turn out @ this public meeting. (note; the 2:00 pm sign-up deadline for presenters).
