Please see below advert for a database consultant: DATABASE CONSULTANCY TERMS OF REFERENCE Objectives of this assignment The main objective of this assignment is to validate and develop further the temporary Case Management System Database(s) to record key criminal case, contacts and welfare supplies information in a consistent way and to allow for basic query, and reporting functions. The consultant will report to the Executive Director , Sabrina Mahtani (Ms) and will work closely with the Legal Officer. Responsibilities and Tasks Phase I: Planning and Design Study current sources of information within AdvocAid’s various systems; Work closely with the Legal Officer, Executive Director and Finance Officer to define the scope and requirements for the database and recommend a solution; Gather all relevant data currently located in different systems and databases. Amend the draft system design and proposal and validate with the Executive Director and the Legal Officer. Phase II: Implementation and Testing Develop, test and validate the database queries and data sheets in consultation with the Legal Officer; Transfer all data from current excel sheets, databases and systems into the new database Test the functionality of the new database; Finalize and complete the system; Proceed with deployment. Phase III: Documentation and Training Prepare user manual; Train relevant users. Deliverables Development of a Case & Contact Management Database; Preparation of user manual for the Case & contact management database. Duration of the assignment This Short Term Consultancy contract is for a maximum of 40 days starting 4th November 2013. Skills/Qualifications/Experience Bachelor’s degree in information system, computer science, software engineering or other relevant field At least two years of experience in system development Excellent database design and management skills, particularly with MS Access Proficient computer skills in other MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel, MS Word etc. Strong problem solving and organizational skills Basic understanding of operations of a case management portfolio Ability to work independently and under time pressure within task assigned, deliver high-quality work within deadlines, and meet objectives.
