Please send this on to anyone who may be interested Once in a Generation Opportunity Over the last few years I have observed many deficiencies in the established ESO’s in regard to younger veterans’ and their families. The Australian Peacekeepers and Peacemakers Veterans’ Association (APPVA) has been working hard at a national level for many years to address these deficiencies through representations to government and participation on all the relevant advisory committees. The APPVA represents all Veterans’ and Ex-Service persons (predominately post 1975 with no restrictions on service) including police and other philanthropic organisation gazetted for duty in peacekeeping roles. We have strived for excellence in our representation of veterans’ and ex-service persons to the DVA/MRCC/COMCARE/DFRDB/MSBS. This has been achieved by a dedicated National Committee and supportive state branches. But to achieve further success we need your help, and by helping us you will be helping yourselves and your mates. On Sunday the 14th of July 2013 at the Brookfield Show Grounds (550 Brookfield Road Brookfield, Brisbane) we will be hosting the first EGM and GM of the newly formed APPVA QLD Branch to start at 1400 hrs (2pm). This is a once in a generation opportunity for younger veterans’ and ex-servicepersons to re-invent an ESO as we want it, to suit our needs and not be constrained by the baggage of the older and longer established ESO’s. This will give you the voice that you have been crying out for on Facebook. Statements like there are no ESO’s looking after younger veterans and making representation on our issues. Well now you have the opportunity in Queensland to have that say. So please come along on Sunday and have a look put your hand up and have your say. You have national representation and the chance to have your voice heard. All positions on the executive are vacant so don’t just sit there and gripe on Facebook come and have a go and help us make a difference in the ex-service community. The meeting will be followed by refreshments and a BBQ. This is a child friendly event so bring the family there will be plenty to keep the children occupied. Nomination and membership forms available at peacekeepers.asn.au/ Hope to see you there Rod Thompson Advocate (Level 4) National Entitlements Officer APPVA
