Please share. - Written by Dan Cohen: I took this photo the first time I left the Gaza Strip after the summer war. On top of the pillbox is a remote control machine gun facing what Israel deemed a buffer zone inside Gaza. The gun is operated by a group of young women in a control room several kilometers away who determine whether to open fire on Palestinians by the way they walk. If they walk suspiciously -- [whatever the hell that means] -- they get shot. The operating system for the gun is called Sees-fire. No need for euphemisms here. The guns sees and the gun fires. Palestinians who wander near the border areas are often searching for scraps of metal or pieces of plastic to sell in order to survive. Keep it mind, 80% of the Palestinians living inside the Gaza Strip are from what is now called Israel. They were expelled to Gaza to create a Jewish majority. Meanwhile, because Im Jewish, I can take Israeli citizenship and get a nice place with a pool in Jaffa -- where many of the refugees in Gaza are from -- or anywhere else. If I were to live in a settlement in the West Bank, the Israeli government would subsidize part of that. Some of you who read this may have some attachment to Israel for personal reasons, but if they outweigh your disgust with what Ive described above, youve got some sick priorities. #WakeUpWorld #FreePalestine
