Please share Hi, My name is Wende McKinney. I am from the Vanderburgh Humane Society in Evansville,IN. I am trying to find a rescue that may be able to help us with two really special cocker spaniel girls. I have been emailing every rescue in our surrounding area trying to find help. Unfortunately, there arent many rescues for Cockers near us. Im wondering if you may be able to offer any help. Their names are Chloe and Clover. These girls have not really had a great start in life. They lived their entire life in crates in a garage, and were used for breeding. Their owner passed away, and no one in the family wanted them. Apparently, there were other dogs living with them. Someone in the family sold them, and were left with these two girls. Chloe is approximately 10-11 years old. She is completely deaf. She has no vision in her left eye, but has some vision in her right eye. Although she has some vision in her right eye, it still looks abnormal. Our vet said it could be uveitis, but we do not have the resources to diagnose the problem. The other eye does have a cataract. Her body condition is not bad. She has a couple of small growths, but nothing that our vet was particularly concerned about. We havent found anything major. She is in desperate need of a dental. Of course, because she was used for breeding, she has not been spayed yet. Clover is approximately 7 years old. She is completely blind due to cataracts. She is also completely deaf. Her teeth are in pretty good condition, and her overall body condition is fair. She also has not been spayed. Both of these girls have great personalities! They are so loving. They are also both extremely tolerant of handling, and dont seem to startle easily at all. Many of us here have completely fallen in love with these girls. We would love to see them get to enjoy some positive experience in life. They are just content to be by your side. If you are able to help them, we would spay them before they left. We did heartworm test them, and they are both negative. Both girls also received their DA2PP and Bordetella vaccines. They would receive their rabies vaccine at the time of surgery. Another rescue that we contacted was unable to take these girls into rescue, but did sponsor the cost of completing a senior blood panel to rule out any major health concerns. The results for both girls were normal. I know they are a difficult case. We would just love to be able to give them a real chance at a happy ending. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much! --Wende McKinney Assistant Operations Manager Vanderburgh Humane Society Evansville,IN vhslifesaver.org (812)426-2563 ext 220
