Please share Luis--a puppy, at 11 months who is set to die tomorrow. His story is completely told here: 09/24/2014 WEB MEMO A Volunteer writes: Wow! Woah! Wowza! Pick your favorite term to express amazement and apply it to this incredible dog who takes all of our collective breaths away with his wonder. Luis has a personality thats impossible to beat: the calm of a Zen Master combined with a hilarious sense of humor. He is so eager to please he picks up commands in about 30 seconds, and already knows hi five! and sit. (think about the fun of having a dog who comes knowing hi five. It really is hours of enjoyment.) He is a dream to walk on a leash, seems to adore (adore!!!!) other dogs and be house trained, and is one of the best kissers ever. Luis is gorgeous, elegant, kind, gentlemanly to all he meets, and infectiously mellow. I wish that I could have Luis by my side at all times. I am so happy that someone will have that chance, and give him a chance as well. What a magnificent creature--please race to meet him! Another volunteer writes: Walking through the shelter is like walking with a celebrity - the number of call outs of hey, Luis, is enough to make me stand a little taller and straighten my clothes to be worthy of my magnificent friendly partner. Hes so stunning in his well groomed gray coat, his eyes match his coat, his tail wags constantly, his leash manners are excellent, he takes treats gently and knows sit and high five!!! Beauty and brains - what a combination! He seems to love other dogs, making friends with an elderbull we met in the park, and then calmly sitting by my side as I talked to a staff member. No puppy crazies here. Hes fun and friendly, affectionate but undemanding. The assessor who evaluated him greeted him with a hug as we came back into the building and told me what an awesome dog he thinks Luis is. I couldnt agree more. If youre still reading this youre missing the opportunity to meet and adopt a great dog. Go meet him today. 09/21/2014 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION - AVERAGE Exam Type BEHAVIOR Luis walks nicely on leash and may be housetrained - toileted immediately once outside. He approached the assessor with a soft body and wagging tail and then proceeded to lean into the assessor and lick the assessors hand. When approaching passersby, Luis jumped up and licked their faces. Luis maintained soft body language throughout the handling items of the assessment. He remained calm and relaxed ruing the food bowl test; and he allowed the assessor to take the food bowl away. Luis readily gave the toy back to the assessor and held onto the rawhide with soft body language. He approached the helper dog with forward, but soft body language during the dog-to-dog interaction.
