Please share! This will be very cool! Francis Broussard will provide some intriguing lagniappe when he speaks on the various artifacts he recently loaned to the Native American Museum in Cassidy Park, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11. Hell also offer visitors an opportunity to hear and experience the healing, transcendent power of Tibetan singing bowls. Broussard is a Southeastern Louisiana University professor whose research is in Native American symbolism/iconography with ethnographic records. He is a member of the Louisiana Archeology Society and of the Academy of American Poets, and is an award-winning author. The longtime teacher and collector of Native American, Asian and other antiquities will provide information on the new batch of historic and pre-historic gorgets, bar stones, boat stones, plummets, stone points and beaded pouches now on display in the museum. Afterwards, Broussard, whose collection also includes bowls from Vietnam, will demonstrate how to make the bowls sing in the rich, resonating way that has, for thousands of years, been used to support meditation, and for sound healing and stress reduction.
