Please share as we never think this could happen in our neighborhood. Though from what we have found out it has been happening more then we know. This past week one of our volunteers was fostering a dog for us. While she was in the house with the front door and windows open, someone stole the dog from her screened-in front porch. Our volunteer went above and beyond to get the dog back. She not only called the police, but was persistent that they continue the investigation and provided them with information about whom she suspected had taken the dog. And today, thanks to her efforts, she was able to have the dog returned from Silver Spring, MD. The people who had the dog had purchased it from the suspect not knowing it was stolen. When they found out, they returned it immediately. Everyone needs to be aware that pets can be gone in an instant and to exercise caution when leaving them outside unattended...as we found out, it only takes a moment.
