Its an IME - independent medical evaluation - my insurance sent me to a doctor they chose for unbiased opinion on my case. This is the reason my dystonia is not being treated right now. Its not because my treatment is not necessary. It is because an uninformed doctor, paid by my insurance, and free of retribution by law, and angry that I missed my first appt (as he made clear at appt) wrote a report without full knowledge or understanding of the condition I have. Without treatment, my dystonia is progressing fast. My coverage was stopped for dystonia based solely on his report. To date, the pleas from myself, my treating specialist at University of Michigan and agreeing reports from his colleagues along with my family doctor, have fallen on deaf ears with my insurance company (State Auto). I can not legally go against the doctor who wrote the report as he is protected by law to do IME reporting. This is why we need dystonia awareness! The atrophy he mentioned is well known to be caused by botulinum toxin (botox) injections and his assumption that my atrophy was caused by anything else is negligent. There is no known shoulder injury proven by emg he mentioned also from 2009 and subsequent emg in August of this year. The August emg confirmed my dystonia has progressed into my torso, part of the complaints he marked as subjective which in laymans terms means could be faking it. Im losing physical control quickly without treatment and have to set aside pride and feelings and expose my story because it is the only way to expose what we are all living with! These reports are saved to PDF also and I will release them upon request to any official who would like to see them along with proof of my identity if they also prove identity to me. This is a signed report from a licensed physician and part of my medical record meaning I own it and can release it as I see fit.
