Please sign this petition to ban the use of veterinary Diclofenac in Spain. Despite being proven to be responsible for the catastrophic, (99%), collapse of vulture populations in the Indian sub-continent it has recently been approved for use in Spain and Italy, (which probably needs another petition), contain the largest populations of the 4 species of Europes Vultures. Madness! Diclofenac is regarded as a major threats to large-scale populations of carrion birds and is credited with having been the main cause of the large declines suffered by vulture populations, in particular the catastrophic decline of several populations of Asian and African vultures. Spain is currently home to 95% of European carrion: 26,000 pairs of griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus), 1,600 pairs of vulture (Neophron percnopterus) 2,000 black vulture (Aegypius monachus) and 125 pairs of osprey (Gypaetus barbatus). The impact of the use of diclofenac would be a serious threat to these birds.
