Please stand by for an announcement from your friendly Topeka History Geeks administrator...... Hello all! Let me start by saying that you are amazing! The information, the stories, the pictures, the passion and the friendships that come from this group is priceless. Thank you to each and every one of you for sharing your knowledge and your history with the group. I would like to take a moment and remind everyone of what this group is about. The Topeka History Geeks is a place to learn about the incredible story of Topeka. And there are a lot of parts to that story! From our founding in 1854 to cruising the boulevard in the 70s, there is so much to tell. Im not sure if everyone has noticed or not but this group is growing faster than ever before. We are getting several new members every day! That just shows how many people love this town and want to learn more about it! Many of us have lived our whole lives in this town and have no idea of what has happened here in the past and what roll Topeka, Kansas has had in the shaping of our nation. Ladies and Gentlemen we live in a truly revolutionary and beautiful town that has stood for freedom since its creation, thats pretty awesome. Please remember that with all of the new members coming into the group, topics may be revisited. Thats great! If you have already discussed the topic and no longer wish to revisit it, please allow the rest of the people in the conversation to discuss. Or if you like, please share the information you learned previously with the group. We are a peaceful group. Hostility, racism, and hatred of any kind will not be tolerated. If you feel that you are being treated unfairly please let me know. I am not always able to read all of the threads in the group so please do not assume I know and am simply allowing it to happen. Bring the issue to my attention and allow me to handle the problem. We are here to learn and that is great!
