Please take a look at this weather briefing from the National Weather Service. There is a potential for a Highwind event either Wednesday or Thursday. during the last event we responded to many calls for service. We would like to take a few minutes to talk about these types of events. First wind events often cause trees to fall taking power lines down with them. Remember to not cross or approach down lines and to treat all lines as live until cleared by PGE. Also when reporting down lines it is helpful to include the pole number of the of the closest pole if you can see it. Do not approach down lines however to find this number. Also please remember that during these types of events we typically get many calls for service at the same time. We do our best to respond to all of the calls as quickly as possible. We rely heavily on our volunteers these multiple call events. It is important to give the dispatchers as much information as possible about if the incidents so they can prioritize them for us. This is a good time to make sure your family is prepared for periods of time without power. It is important to have a good 72 hour kit. This includes water, food, blankets and such. For more information on 72 hour kits visit ready.gov
