Please take a moment to read about artist Stephanie Suzukis thoughts behind her design for the Illusion Cities of the World Face Painting Competition. The city is written in kanji. This is Shizuoka city, where I live for 10 years. Shizuoka city, in Shizuoka Prefecture. This is a really nice city surrounded by mountains and sea so really nice to do hiking and enjoy different landscapes. The design is simple and I didn’t really want to put monuments on it but I wanted to show few specialties people here like. The image we have here about Shizuoka is the Tea Field. I have one just 5 minutes from my home so I put it on top left using a stencil. Then mandarins are also cultivated so I put them in a pop way in the bottom right. We have mountains as a beautiful landscape and we are lucky to have Mount Fuji be a part of the prefecture (Mount Fuji is in Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefecture). The Mount Fuji you may know is lot of time painted like the one Aska sent to you but most of the people in shizuoka say that the one we can see is special because we have a little mountain in the bottom right that can be only seen from Shizuoka Prefecture. Plus, There is Miho Pine Groves which was added to the World Heritage List as part of the Mount Fuji Cultural Site so I decided to put it on the top right with waves for the white parts I painted. For the color of the sky, I decided to put the color when the sun comes up as a special meaning for a new day starting. And in the bottom left are the Cherry Shrimps, a specialty very good. The competition closes TODAY, here is the link to send you design and also to see the latest designs: illusionmagazine.co.uk/face_painting_competitions/face_painting_competition_-_cities_of_the_world
