Please take the time to watch this video of the Organizational Meeting of the KUSD Board. The positions of President, Vice President, and Treasurer were taken by Tamarra Coleman, Mary Snyder, and Dan Wade in that order. The media has named these three board members as a part of the new majority along with Gary Kunich. Carl Bryan, Rebecca Stevens, and myself are considered by the media to be in the minority. Every single one of my colleagues and myself has stated that there are no sides on this Board. However, when I see 4-3, 4-3, 4-3 over and over again all denying Carl Bryan, a dedicated Board member with plenty of achievements on the Board, I begin to lose faith and trust. The one ray of hope was Gary Kunichs nomination for me to serve as Clerk. The nomination was seconded by Rebecca Stevens and approved by the board 7-0. This meeting violated a severe amount of trust among some Board members. If this Board truly wants to prove that there is no majority and minority, this was not the way to do it. I hope that moving forward this year we will not continue to see these divisive tactics and behavior. Voters sent a message by flipping the Board two years in a row that they are sick and tired of the division. Lets do our job and represent them well. The next test will be Tamarra Colemans committee chair assignments. It will be interesting to see how Mrs. Coleman handles these appointments. I have personally requested to chair the Policy committee, and serve on the Curriclulum committee. Over the past year, I was chair of Curriulum and served on Policy.I have had numerous conversations with Mrs. Coleman on this and will be interested to see how she handles her first leadership desiciosn.
