Please testify in Williston, Bismarck this week - AND - also email the ND Department of Health on the states proposed increase of radioactive oil waste permanently dumped in the state of North Dakota - from 5-picocuries to fifty (50) picocuries-per-gram of radioactive oil waste. Here are some suggested comments YOU can make: (1) More then half of the million-acres within Fort Berthold are non-trust lands. You dont want a growing radioactive oil waste dumpsite within the Fort Berthold boundaries - whether on trust or non-trust lands. (2) You want an EXTENDED 60-day public comment period to allow western ND residents to understand the implications of this significant change. (The State of ND proposed this radioactive oil waste increase during the Christmas-New Years holidays when most folks are busy). (3) You want MORE public hearings held in western North Dakota, especially including in New Town. (4) You support keeping the current health-protective 5- picocurie-limit on radioactive oil waste. Finally, ( 5) Increasing the radioactivity of oil waste to fifty (50) picocuries will require ND to start accepting OUT-OF-STATE oil waste. In a published interview with RW Monitor, the top ND health regulator, Dave Glatt, confirmed that ND will have to start accepting OUT-OF-STATE radioactive oil waste when the state increases the radioactivity of oil waste allowed. You dont support bringing in even more radioactive oil waste. Please attend and speak at one of the public hearings AND also email Scott Radig, the director of Waste Management at [email protected]. ndhan.gov/data/mrNews/2015-1-7-TENORM%20Hearings%20NR%20Reminder%20FINAL.pdf
