Pls excuse the long post-but for anyone interested in reading Moms obituary...here it is!! (no pic tho :( anyone have a recent jpeg of Alvie??) FOWLER(nee KENDALL), ALVIE Gwenn It is with our broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Alvie on July 2, 2014. She was born in Trail, B.C., the 3rd of 6 children to Alvin and Bertha Kendall. She grew up in the Kamloops area with her family where they lived and went to school until they moved to Salmon Arm in 1968. There, she completed her education and got married in 1970. Alvie was diagnosed with MS(Multiple Sclerosis) on her 40th birthday, and gracefully dealt with the challenges for the next 23 years. She left this world peacefully after a short and courageous battle with cancer. **A special thank-you to the staff at the palliative/oncology 5th floor ward at Surrey Memorial Hospital, and to the staff and volunteers at Laurel Place Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion towards Alvie. Alvie was predeceased by her mother Bertha(1987), grandmother Mary(2005), and grandfather’s Karl Bieleckie and Steve Bodnarchuk. Left to mourn are her father; Alvin Kendall, ex-husband Stan; her 4 children: Corriena(Dave), Deena, Allison(Ben), and Stephen(Ji-Hye); her 9 beloved grand-children: Jennifer, Robert, Heather, Deon, Patrisha, Jeremy, Samantha, Jun and Tae: her 4 sisters: Charlotte(Ken), Cindy, Diane(Vern), Laurie(Dean), and her brother Ken(Stacey). She also leaves behind an abundance of family-including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family…all of whom had their lives touched by her forever loyal love. *The family would like to extend our eternal gratefulness to our cousins Marcella and Janie who selflessly gave their time and love to be with Mom until her passing.* An open-house Celebration of Life/63rd Birthday Party for Alvie will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2014 at the La Casa Co-op multi-purpose room(17222-57th Ave, Cloverdale) from 11am to 2pm . Those who want to pay their respects are free to join us for refreshments and to share a memory. In lieu of flowers, donations to the MS Society of BC, or, to Laurel Place Hospice(9688-137A Street, Surrey #604.582.6336) would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting bakerviewcrematorium In loving memory of Alvie, a green balloon release will be held by family at 3PM PST. For friends and relatives unable to attend the Celebration of Alvie’s Life , please join us by releasing a balloon from wherever you are at 3PM. MOM-you were loved so very much and will be missed.
