Poem 2/30: Clouds For many years I searched for beauty in the clouds I wondered what it was about them that could possibly be uplifting When there were poems to be written about politics that are forever hindering, The youth that is forgetting, Fathers who are dying, The kind of love we are seeking but never finding. I found it absurd to tilt my head back in search for answers I lacked to questions, especially in the sky, Though I will admit to having envied the birds in their flight. It is so easy to ask why, When you refuse to acknowledge the evaporated water, light above and dancing by. It is easy to look at your neighbours eye, To point fingers and trigger conflicts with others. It is much easier to write good poems about sad mothers. One day, When life found me on an aeroplane I indulged in the breathtaking scenery of landscapes. I thought of Ida. It occurred to me why her name rhymes with feather - I recalled how shed always say, Remember to look up some day. Appreciate the clouds, and the birds and the sound the wind makes when it hurls. Allow yourself to step out of it all, Leap within, let go, grab hold of your soul, step out of your skin it will be well-worth the fall. I landed on both feet, Thankful for the wisdom she had given. I learned that there are lighter poems that long to be written.
