Poem Tell Off Contest This is an old story that I have told many times over the years and is one of my favorites. I hope you like it. First let me start off by describing the characters. The first is a gentlemen James, he is from New York City and attends NYCU. He always dresses nice, fancy shoes, dress pants and shirt nice jacket. Came in first place at NYCU in the Poem Tell Off Contest. Now the next is a guy from OCU. He’s not so fancy; he’s usually wearing coveralls, shirt with no sleeves, old dirty work boots and a piece of straw hanging out of his mouth. Oh and his name is Okie Mike. He came in first place at OCU in the Poem Tell Off Contest. Now all the people that came in first place at their colleges get together and have a contest and the top two will go to Washington to compete for first place. Well by now you probably have guest who will be competing in Washington. That’s right James and Okie Mike. So now is the day for the big Poem Tell Off Competition. The judge comes on stage and begins to tell the rules of the competition. Judge says, I will give the contestants one word and must use it in a poem. I will call one contestant on stage at a time. The judge then calls James to the stage and gives him his word and the word is, Timbuktu. Now James looking good in he’s nice shoes, shirt and jacket stands there for a while, then the judge says time starts now. After a few moments James says I’m ready. The judge then tells James step up to the microphone and begin. James starts; All across the desert sand road a desert caravan men on camels two by two destination Timbuktu. The crowd goes wild; they cannot believe James came up with that so fast. Then the judge comes on stage, James takes his seat. The judge calls Okie Mike on stage, tells him he’s word; Timbuktu. Now Okie Mike stands there in his overalls, sleeveless shirt and a straw hanging from his mouth. Then Okie Mike says I’ve got it. He then steps in front of the microphone and begins; Tim and I a fishing went meet three whores in a pop up tent I bucked one and Timbuktu. Well needless to say and yes I think you know who won. That’s right Okie Mike did.
