Poem to My Washing Machine - How I miss you, My washing machine, Once standing in the corner so proud. How I miss your xylophone noise as you started and finished your cycle. For a number of years you washed my clothes (and smalls). Your many programmes often had me in a daze, Long wash, Short wash, Delicate or cotton, which one to choose. You happily hummed away, your drum turning one way then the other. The glugging noise the water made as you filled and emptied through your pipes. Until that is, Your humming became a croak, We opened you up but your ailment we did not know. Your croakiness carried on just for a few days more, then with one final strain, your drum you turned no more. There is now an empty space where you once stood so proud. How I miss you, my washing machine, But the time came to say goodbye. Youve gone with other appliances, to the eternal scrap metal yard in the sky.
