Poetry Title: FEASTING WITH IMMORTALS (For the Eyo Festival, Lagos, Nigeria) By: Iyeomoan, Emmanuel Ehizogie White regalia hide black skins in bed-sheets of purity; Shinning shadows chase mortals into widowed shells of feeble fear; With sticks christened staffs, amnesia vanishes into thin air, beaten, whiped and renamed; Idumota treks dusk till dawn from the mainland to the island, not thirsty, not hungry; We remove our caps, our gears, in abeyance to customs and convention; The Oba buries seven cowries that peace may subdue pending wars; The ancestral train dance in twines, forming circles of squared unity; We all danced along with our ancestors, as the rains poured, ushering us back into the mollusc of togetherness.
