Point to Ponder So, does Hasina want a political deal, to save - TopicsExpress

Point to Ponder So, does Hasina want a political deal, to save her son from the legal action in the U.S.? Rumor has it that recently an official complain of alleged graft was lodged to the Department of Justice, along with request to initiate a legal process by a prominent U.S. lawmaker against Mr. Joy. So has the Canadian Mounted Police, the story goes, requested the U.S. Department of Justice, to investigate alleged involvement of Mr. Joy in receiving grafts in the Padma Bridge project. What else could be the case for the sudden U turn? After all, Hasina was the most vocal against the alleged money laundering of Taraq in the last fives years, so were her psychopath followers at home and abroad. Evidently, both Hasina and her followers had to lick back themselves. Interesting enough, when the Bangladeshi Court under Hasina regime denies bail to the leaders of the opposition parties in alleged crime that never took place and justify such preemptive detention citing the doctrine of public safety, the case against Taraq Zia was dismissed though the following hard facts are worth to remember: First, Tareq Zia was accused in the same money laundering case; and the conviction (monetary fine and confiscation of money) was upheld by the Court of the Republic of Singapore. Second, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) brought back the money in the amount of Taka 200 million for which Hasine demanded credit publicly. Third, FBI provided Bangladeshi court the minute details of the trajectory of the laundering scheme as well as all supporting documents, including history of withdrawing money form the account using the credit card and its spending by Tareq abroad. Fourth, the Court verdict did not focus on money laundering, as its argument to release Tareq solely was dependent on whether Tareq submitted any affidavit about the alleged money in his tax documents, though the case was about money laundering, not his tax evasion. Fifth, the pertinent documents, submitted by FBI and the Singaporean authority, state the Daily Star and Prothom Alo, are missing from the dossier of the Court ! But the question is: can Hasina save her skin? Isnt it her time for pay back?
