PokerAce, an Asia-based online poker gaming room, has decided to shut down completely, effective June 5, 2013. In relation to that, all of the player accounts that PokerAce holds, complete with their balances and points, will be transferred to fellow online poker room Dafapoker. “We have made arrangements with Dafapoker one of Asia’s top online poker rooms where players will be able to continue to play using their current account details and player balances. All PokerAce player account details and balances are safe and will be automatically transferred to Dafapoker from Wednesday June 5, 2013, at 6:00 p.m.”, according to a representative of PokerAce. “Thank you for your support so far. We are sad to discontinue and understand the inconvenience it may cause, for which we sincerely apologize. Much thought has gone into the decision, and we know that teaming up with Dafapoker is very much the right decision for our players.” The Philippine-based online poker room, which opened its doors last August 2012, was billed as “The Asian Online Poker Room”. Despite its obvious focus for catering Asian-based online poker players (its stated mission was “to be an ambassador for the development of poker in Asia”), it nevertheless accepted players worldwide, except those based in countries like the U.S., Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Israel, Antigua and Barbuda, France, Cyprus, Estonia, Antilles, Spain, and Italy. Powered by proprietary software, which allowed playing signed in to play without downloading any software to install on their computers, PokerAce has high hopes in capturing and securing its place on the online poker room market, and even signed a number of professional poker players to help in promoting their site and raise global awareness. Notable pros among the PokerAce team include 2005 WSOP Main Event winnner Joe Hachem, 2012 WSOP Main Event finalist Steve Gee, two-time WSOP bracelet winner J.C. Tran, and top tournament pro Nam Lee. Despite its best marketing efforts, PokerAce failed to get any considerable momentum since it’s launch, and PokerScout even reports that the amount of web traffic that it receives is very close to zero. In lieu of this, PokerAce has decided to “focus on a different business model”, and is now starting to migrate all the player accounts registered to them to Dafapoker, also a Philippine-based online poker room that is part of the iPoker online network. “Once the data has been successfully migrated, you will be able to log-on to Dafapoker for the first time using your existing account with us..Once the process is completed, you will find that your balance with us would have been transferred to Dafapoker and available for gameplay across all of their products.”, says PokerAce via a statement on their homepage. The homepage also has set up a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page for the benefit of the players.
