Polar Bear Tourney a success: $6,000 raised to benefit the Sonora Golf Program The weather was absolutely beautiful for the annual Polar Bear Golf Tournament fundraiser, which was held at the Sonora Golf Club on Saturday. 64 golfers participated and were split into 12 teams, consisting of 5 to 7 players each. The tournament format was 18 holes of Par 3’s. The variation in distances made for a challenging day. Tournament results: 1st place Team—11 under par Adolph Garza, James Hartman, Bill Nichols, Coach Ramon, Ruben Ramon, and Larry Zapata. 2nd place Team—9 under par (winning by a scorecard playoff) Steve Thorp, Gary Hardgraves, Virgil Burge, Matt Killough, Don Spiller, and Roy Smalling.
