Police Appeal After Attempted Robbery In Worcester Police officers in Worcester are appealing for help from the public as they investigate an attempted robbery in the city. The incident occurred at the Peplow Jewellers shop on High Street on Monday 8 July. At just after 4.10pm a gold coloured Toyota Yaris containing two men - with their hoods up and faces covered - drove up Copenhagen Street at speed and pulled up outside the shop. Once the car had stopped one of the men – wearing a fluorescent jacket – jumped out of the car and attempted to smash the window at the front of the store with a lump hammer. The window is reinforced so it did not smash and this forced the man to immediately get back into the gold Toyota, which is believed to have the partial registration ‘SH05’. A police spokesman said: “Once the man had got back into the car it immediately sped off back down Copenhagen Street before turning left onto Deansway and then up London Road. “The car was involved in a minor collision as it left the scene but thankfully no-one was injured as a result of this. “Officers in CID in Worcester are investigating this incident and they are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed it, or who may have seen the gold Toyota Yaris before or after it stopped outside the shop. “Police are also keen to hear from anyone who may have filmed any of yesterday’s events on a mobile phone, or anyone who may have taken any photos. “Anyone with information about this incident can contact Detective Constable Craig Osborne in CID in Worcester on 0300 333 3000, quoting reference number 356S 080713. “Alternatively, please remember the charity Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555111.”
