Police Arrest Subject for Theft of Rifle: Valparaiso Police have been investigating the theft of a rifle from Walmart which occurred on December 23rd. During the investigation police obtain surveillance photos of the suspect exiting the store shortly after the theft of the rifle. The photos had recently been released on social media and through local media. From the release of photos the male subject was identified. Yesterday afternoon Valparaiso Police combined with Jasper County Sheriff’s Department served an arrest warrant on the male subject at his residence in Wheatfield. The male subject was identified as Colton Johnson 25 yrs old of Wheatfield. Johnson was interviewed by police and admitted to the theft of the rifle and provided the location of the stolen rifle. Police have since recovered the gun. Johnson is being held at the Porter County Jail on the charge of Theft (C-Felony). valpoaraisopolicedept
