Police: BOY NOT PROBED FOR SEDITION - So what is our Lesson in this story? Those whore quick to condemn by relying on misquoted Malay Mail online Headlines? QUOTE Seberang Perai Selatan OCPD Asst Supt Shafien Mamat said the police were investigating the case, NOT THE BOY, under Section 4 (1) of Sedition Act. ______________________________________________________________ Police have recorded the statements of five people, including the student, on the Facebook posting and hope to complete investigations by this week. Picture 11GEORGE TOWN: Police have dismissed speculations that they were investigating the Form Five student, who clicked “Like” for “I Love Israel” on his Facebook page, for sedition. The boy lodged a police report last week after receiving death threats from teachers and students of his school in Bandar Tasek Mutiara, Seberang Perai, since the Facebook posting. Seberang Perai Selatan OCPD Asst Supt Shafien Mamat said the police were investigating the case, not the boy, under Section 4 (1) of Sedition Act. “The police have not identified any suspect in connection with the case,” he told FMT today. He added that the police had recorded the statements of five people, including the student and teachers, and hoped to complete investigations this week. Shafien said the report would be submitted to the deputy attorney-general’s office for further action. He said the initial probe revealed that misunderstanding was the main cause of the incident. State Education Department director Osman Hussain said he and his officials were holding discussions with the parties involved to reach an amicable solution. He said the department was also counselling students and teachers to better respect and understand one another irrespective of their ethnic and religious backgrounds. “This is an educational institution and we have to think like Malaysians,” said Osman.
