Police are appealing for information after a spate of sneak in burglaries at night. Residents across the city are being urged to make sure they lock their doors and windows at night after around 20 offences in the last month. Thieves seem to be focusing on ground-floor flats. They have often got in by reaching through small windows left on the latch to open larger ones, or simply by walking in through doors that have been left unlocked. The criminals have entered the properties while occupants are sleeping – stealing small items including cash and cards. DI Suzanne Davies said: “We are targeting patrols to tackle this issue and several lines of enquiry are being followed to bring potential offenders to justice, but prevention is key in terms crime reduction on this issue. “Criminals are getting in through unlocked doors and windows. We would urge people to really think about their security at night – even when the weather is warmer.
