Police are appealing for information after a teenage moped rider was knocked off his bike by a car which failed to stop. The incident happened on the B1281 Blackhall to Castle Eden road on Wednesday, 5th March between 6pm to 6.15pm. The rider, an 18-year-old from Peterlee was hit from behind by a vehicle and fell from his machine. Fortunately he was not seriously injured. The car, which was possibly a dark coloured VW Golf seemingly made no attempt to stop and left the scene towards Castle Eden. Its thought the driver was female and the car may have sustained some damage to the front. Anyone who was on that road and either saw the collision or who might have seen either vehicle beforehand is asked to contact the police on 101 and ask for PC 1767 Kevin Robson. The incident was number 0390 of 5th March.
