Police are appealing for information after the alleged indecent assault of a girl in Fairfield yesterday. About 5.30pm (Thursday 29 May 2014), a six-year-old girl was playing with friends outside a unit complex on Nelson Street. The girl walked back to the entry of her unit complex a short distance away, where she was approached by a man who allegedly indecently assaulted her. Her father heard her screaming and came outside, before searching the area, but the man was not found. He contacted police and officers from Fairfield Local Area Command launched an investigation into the incident. Inquiries into the matter are continuing and police would now like to speak to a man who may be able to assist in the investigation. The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance with black hair and was last seen wearing a baseball cap, a blue-coloured singlet and a pair of shorts. Anyone who knows the man’s identity or may have witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
