Police are appealing for information from the public after a firearm was stolen from a property in Ultimo at the weekend. About 2pm (Saturday 18 January 2014), officers from Sydney City Local Area Command attended a unit block on Jones Street, after a resident had her garage broken into. Upon further inspection, the 45-year-old woman discovered someone had gained access to her firearm safe and taken a double barrelled shotgun and ammunition. A crime scene was established at the location and examined by specialist forensic officers and detectives. Inquiries into the matter are continuing and police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
