Police are conducting investigations after a man was seriously injured in an ultralight plane crash near Ivanhoe this morning. About 7:55am, Friday 16 May 2013, emergency services were called to a rural property on the Balranald Road, approximately 50km south of Ivanhoe, following reports of a plane crash. It is believed a man was flying the ultralight plane when he crashed onto a rural property as he was preparing to land. He sustained serious head, leg and ankle injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Ivanhoe Health Service. The man is expected to be airlifted by the Royal Flying Doctors Service to Broken Hill Hospital for further treatment. The plane was completely destroyed in the crash. Police from Barrier Local Area Command are continuing investigations into the crash and are being assisted by Recreational Aviation Australia.
