Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a man was attacked as he walked his dog in Bolton. At around 2am on Friday 25 July 2014, police were called to the junction of Chorley Old Road and St George’s Street, and discovered Brendan McKelvey, 49, with serious head injuries. He was taken to hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition. Brendan’s dog Pip was found standing loyally beside him. A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH, in connection with the attack and remains in custody for questioning. Detective Inspector Andy Cunliffe, said: “Brendan was attacked as he walked his dog and, although we have made an arrest, we would urge anybody with information about the incident to please call us in complete confidence.” Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 5823 or the Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
