Police are investigating after two men were injured in a single vehicle crash near Lithgow yesterday. About 4.50pm (Saturday 13 September 2014), officers attached to Chifley Local Area Command were called to the Great Western Highway, Meadow Flat, following reports of a car crash. Police have been told a Toyota utility was travelling west when it left the roadway and rolled, before colliding with a tree. Emergency services were called to the scene and removed the 44-year-old male driver and his 23-year-old male passenger from the vehicle. They were treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics before being airlifted to Westmead Hospital. The driver sustained soft tissue injuries and possible neck injuries. The passenger sustained possible internal lacerations. As a result of the crash, the Great Western Highway was closed for a number of hours while officers from the Crash Investigation Unit examined the scene. Diversions have since been lifted. Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.au/ Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
