Police are investigating the theft of a car at Woodville South earlier this morning. Just after 5.30am, the victim started her car in the driveway of a Glengarry Street house, then got out and went to the front door of the house. A man then ran over to her car and got in, driving off with the woman’s handbag inside the car. Patrols were called to the scene, and they briefly pursued the white Ford ute for several minutes before it collided with a tree on Sixth Avenue in Woodville Gardens. The suspect ran away from the car, but was not located. Cash was stolen from the victim’s handbag, which was recovered at the scene. The suspect is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his late 40’s to early 50’s, solid build, curly brown/black hair, and was wearing a blue jumper.
