Police are seeking the assistance of the public after a suspicious fire in Whyalla Stuart. At 1.20am this morning, emergency services were called to Parfitt Street responding to reports of a boat on fire. The boat and trailer were in a driveway and were destroyed in the fire. Damage was also caused to the neighbouring house. Fortunately the occupants of the house were awoken by the fire and managed to leave prior to receiving any injury. Police are treating the fire as suspicious and suspect it may be linked to two other wheelie bin fires and the theft of electronic items from another boat on Jenkins Avenue. Police are seeking the help of the public and are appealing for anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area in the moment leading up to the fire and immediately after. Police are particularly interested in speaking with the occupants of a white Holden sedan seen leaving the area around the time of the fire. If you have any information that may assist, please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at https://sa.crimestoppers.au
