Police arrest man for cheating ATM customers Hyderabad: City police nabbed a thief, who targeted the elderly and those not familiar with ATM usage, to withdraw money from their accounts. The crook is a single offender. On the pretext of helping people unsure of how to operate ATM cards, he swapped those cards with fake ones The accused was identified as Mohammed Iliyas-uddin,26, a resident of Nehru Nagar Colony. He selected an unmanned SBI ATM kiosk near Dhobi Ghat crossroads. On finding a suitable target, he approaches with offer of help. “He noted down the PIN number and while returning the card to the victim, he changed it with another. He then used the victim’s card to withdraw cash from another centre,” said K. Venkata Ramana, SI Madannapet. Following a complaint, the police team from Madannapet nabbed him on Sunday, when he came to the ATM centre again. He confessed to the crime and said he withdrew Rs.6, 000 from a M. Gandaiah’s account and Rs.30,000 from a Farhan Begum’s account. Tags:
