Police from the North Manchester Neighbourhood Policing Team are appealing for witnesses after two males were robbed in Harpurhey. In the early hours of this morning, Friday 14th June, two males were victims of carjacking whilst driving along Rochdale Road in the direction of Rochdale. At around 3.55am, the males were driving along Rochdale Road in a red Vauxhall Astra, at a slow speed, looking for a petrol station. The driver noticed two apparently intoxicated males in the road and was unable to manoeuvre around them, bringing his car to a stop. One of the men, described as black, around 5ft10-11 of slim build with brown eyes, approximately 20-21 years of age who was clean shaven and wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a hoody and a red baseball cap, approached the driver’s window and struck him once to the right cheek before producing a hammer. He told the driver to get out of the car. The other man continued to block in the vehicle and was carrying a knife in his hand. The first male got into the driver’s seat and the second man removed the passenger from the front seat of the vehicle. The first male then drove the vehicle away, along Rochdale Road in the direction of Rochdale. The second male returned to a white car, which is thought to possibly be a Honda or Fiat which was parked on Beech Mount and left the scene in the same direction, leaving the knife he was carrying at the scene. The second male is described as white, approximately 5ft6 around 23 years old of slim build and clean shaven with shaved brown hair. He was wearing casual clothes. Did you see anything? We are looking for anybody who may have been around the area at this time who might have seen something. Please call us on 101 or contact the independent charity, Crimestoppers for free and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
