Police have charged a man after he allegedly threatened a woman with an axe and damaged multiple properties in Taree. About 6.30pm (Monday 8 September 2014), police from Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command were called to Stokes Circuit, after reports a man was armed with an axe. On arrival at the unit block, officers were told that a man had threatened a woman with an axe and then smashed a window, glass door and sprayed the area with a fire extinguisher. Police received further information and a foot pursuit was commenced through numerous properties into Davis Street, where a 34-year-old man was arrested. The man had suffered an injury to his arm and was taken to Manning Base Hospital for treatment. Three officers also received treatment to minor injuries received during the pursuit and arrest of the man. He was charged with malicious damage, resist arrest, intimidation and offensive behaviour, he was given bail to appear at Taree Local Court on Tuesday 23 September 2014.
