Police have formed a strike force to investigate the suspicious death of an elderly man in Coonamble yesterday. Detectives have established Strike Force Devlin to investigate the suspicious death of local man Reginald Mumford, 79. Mr Mumford was found suffering injuries to his chest at his home on Smith Street about 6am yesterday (Thursday 3 July). He was taken to Coonamble Base Hospital but died a short time later. Detectives spoke with a 31-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man yesterday in relation to the death but at this stage nobody has been arrested. Police from Castlereagh Local Area Command are being assisted by detective from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad. A post mortem examination is being conducted to formally establish the cause of his death. Investigators will remain at the crime scene today and are appealing for anyone with information about the man’s death to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
