Police have launched an investigation following a collision in Sydney’s CBD this afternoon. About 2.45pm (Sunday 8 June 2014), officers from the Police Transport Command and Sydney City Local Area Command were called to George Street after reports of a woman injured at the location. Officers have been told a woman, aged in her 30s, was attempting to cross George Street when she was struck by a bus. She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a critical condition. She’s currently undergoing surgery. No one else was injured during the incident. The bus driver will be taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests. A crime scene has been established at the location and will be examined by specialist forensic officers. One north bound lane of George Street is currently closed while emergency services carry out their inquiries at the scene.
